![]() I am a high ball hitter who prefers a heavier weight shaft. Why should I look into Project X 6.0's or any KBS shafts? My question is this: I've only ever played true tempers. It'll likely come down to the FG100 tours, JPX 900 tours, iBlade and the 718MB irons. I love the look of the traditional squared off heads like the Wilson FG100 irons. Prior to my irons I played 962b's then 670's. I play i5 irons with ZZ-65 shafts, a 904F with a YS-6 fairway and a 913 D3 8.5 with a whiteboard 70x. That being said, I've maintained a 4.4 index and would like to step back into the world of modern equipment. I hold in high regard, my appreciation for their integrity towards their business model. I had the privilege of traveling to Phoenix in 2005 to visit the PING plant and become a certified fitter. I have been playing for fun (scrambles and a few rounds) but nothing competitive since my last year in 2006. #Mla tour xdream putter review pro#I'm a former assistant pro and my equipment knowledge and focus has really trailed off since I no longer work in the golf business. Hi, I am more of a browser here than a poster. I'll always be loyal to PING but hope that I can realize some advantages while getting older to improve what I anticipate to be distance losses. With our first child on the way, these will be another set of 10+ year clubs for me based upon my average 8-12 rounds a year. I personally am leaning in the iblade direction, because they are cast and should be my "forever clubs". They both are gorgeous and I can play them. Out of the clubs you listed I hit the 716MB, and the iBlade, it would be a real toss up for me. I prefer a blade iron, as my handicap is driving and putting, wedges and irons are hit near the home button more often than not. privileged to been t esting the MLA Tour XDream BLACK EDITION SuperStroke 3. Rangefinder: ZIYOUHU Chinese laser, Garmin X40, Garmin Fenix 6X. I used to get a hollow, dead feel from my S300's, and my new wedges have the S200's and I get that same hollow feel/sound. Putter: MLA Tour XDream 'Black Edition' Superstroke 3.0 slim (standard 34') Ball's: RBZ balls for the moment till i can find a better deal. Got my Taylormade clubs with the KBS tour, and they feel solid. I thought I liked the S300's, and S200's. The price is $299 at their site MLA.golf if you want to purchase or for complete technical details.I can give you my 6 handicap reason why I prefer KBS over TT's. Recommendation: The MLA Tour XDream is a solid, efficient putter and if you like the looks of the unique crown alignment aid it could be a very good choice. Also at 375 grams the Tour XDream is at the upper end of what might be considered ideal weight range for typical green speeds. MLA does make several blade models which we did not test. Negatives: The flattened horseshoe alignment aid took some getting used to and in fact several of the players who tried the Tour XDream felt a smaller, blade style head would be better. As a result the wrists arch slightly which facilitates the modern shoulder, big muscle stroke. The stock grip is a Forward brand model designed with extra thickness under the flat top of the grip where the left palm sits in a normal placement of the hands. Putting a 5-gram weight in both the heel and toe positions made the head face balanced, my preferred weight configuration. The milled 375 gram head has two changeable weights in the sole and three more are included. Feel was excellent and distance control never a problem even on very fast surfaces. In a nutshell, I used the Tour XDream for ten rounds on greens from Florida to Alabama and believe it did help me to line up putts particularly breaking left to righters, which for a right-handed player are the most trying. There’s a much longer and more complete explanation of why they think the white horseshoe works but of course the proof is in the putting. who has made extensive studies over 20 years of the brain’s perceptual process. This large white flattened horseshoe is distinctive in shape, prominent in appearance, visually striking and meant to aid our brain to correctly perceive the proper line of a putt.Īccording to the company which is based in Switzerland, MLA stands for Multiple Line-detector Activation and the clubhead pattern is the result of working with Dr. I have lost track of the number tried over the years many of which never made it into a column since I believe what my mother always told me, “If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all.”īut since my friend had asked I readily agreed to include the MLA Golf Tour XDream in the rota of clubs for the “Ten Rounds with…” series.įirst of all the putter’s most obvious feature is the also the one that separates it from the rather crowded field of flat sticks, namely the alignment aid on the top of the putter head. My first reaction was, “Oh goodie, another putter.” A longtime friend who handles publicity for a number of golf equipment companies called to say he had just taken on a putter company and would like me to test their product. ![]()
